The Game and Tunes of Watergate Scam
- Sharon Renita
There is an inevitable game called "The Watergate Scandal." It is described as "a game of cover-up and deception for the whole family"- two to six "losers" can play the game and the wild card is the attorney general's wife. It is played with a deck of special cards and is based on the dealer's ability to tell whether the other players are lying.
If hours of televised hearings, endless coloumns of newspaper space and the mighty newscast are not enough, the fans can tune in to their local good music station and hear Ron Marshall and The Waves singing "At the Watergate."
The Watergate fans could also dial a Washington D.C. number and hear Representative William Hungate of Missouri sing his own composition "Down by the old Watergate." It starts off: "Come, come, come and play spy with me down at the old Watergate."
Night club comics are having a field day, David Frye's impression of President Richard Nixon starts: "My administration has taken crime off the street's and put it into the White House."
Beverly Hills photographer Sid Brawer took advantage of the opening day of the Senate Watergate committee to pass around a loose-leaf kit he put together called "The Watergate Papers."
Even record companies are having a field day. Comedian Mort Sahl has an LP called "Sing a Song of Watergate..." Then there is the Watergate Comedy hour. It features "the Watergate 7" and the music of H.R.Haldeman and the Buckpassers.
